Desert Blues: Tarwa N-Tiniri ⵜⴰⵔⵡⴰ ⵏ ⵜⵉⵏⵉⵔⵉ

Tarwa N-Tiniri (ⵜⴰⵔⵡⴰ ⵏ ⵜⵉⵏⵉⵔⵉ) which means “sons of the desert” in Amazigh (the Berber language of the indigenous people of North Africa), come from the remote southern city of Ouarzazate in Morocco. Inspired by desert blues bands such as Tinariwen, Tamikrest and Bombino, these young musicians’ goal is to become the new generation of desert blues bands. With acoustic guitar, electric guitar, percussion, gourd and bass they convey the social conditions of the nomadic people of their land to revitalise this genre with energy and creativity.
Their irresistible rhythms, mesmerizing vocals and psychedelic guitar riffs take listeners on a unique journey through North Africa and beyond.
The band released their first song “Taryet” on March 2017 and has already been viewed 8 million times on their YouTube channel.
“We are the desert generation, the generation that must accept the responsibility of restoring the desert people’s culture, dignity and confidence.”
