Cumbia, surf and the B52’s - Banda Chuska

La Banda Chuska takes inspiration from the twangy surf music of 1960s Peru paying tribute to bands such as Los Belkings and Los Siderals. The band also has an affinity for Peruvian cumbia sounds with a special emphasis on the more psychedelic end of the chicha spectrum. Their post-punk energy has also drawn comparisons to a tropical version of the B-52s. With Felipe Wurst and Sam Day Harmet on guitars, Adele Fournet on organ, Erica Mancini on accordion, Abe Pollack on bass, and Joel Mateo on drums.

Direct from Colombian, The Meridian Brother’s re-interpret all manners of Latin Tropical styles with a strong psychedelic and experimental sensibility. Their Latin American rhythms are augmented by sampling techniques, elaborate effect processing, and quirky, theatrical vocals, which channel imaginary characters with both pathos and humor.
